Garlic-Butter Steak and Bacon Gruyere Mac and Cheese

Searching for a complete meal that’s packed with flavor and comfort and cheese-y, garlic-y goodness? Look no further!!

For the steak, I just kind of made-up the recipe as I went, drawing from past experiences and knowledge of making steak with garlic butter.

For the mac and cheese, I used a recipe from foodnetwork.com as a base, but made quite a few changes. You can find the original recipe here.

For the garlic knots, you can use your favorite recipe, or purchase some from your local bakery/grocery store!

Sorry for the lack of step-by-step pictures! This recipe is being posted quickly as it has been being requested by multiple people ๐Ÿ™‚

Homemade Potato Latkes

IMG_20151104_113612823

I bought a wonderful new kitchen gadget recently and have been coming up with new ways to put it to the test! The sweet mandolin (the cutting tool, not the instrument!) I have has a fancy matchstick-cut making blade that is PERFECT for hash browns and (you guessed it!) latkes.

I threw together this recipe on the fly this morning as I was making them. Probably could do with a few tweaks and additions, but it was really tasty as is!

Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures of the step-by-step process, but perhaps I can update it later with some ๐Ÿ™‚ Continue reading

Homemade Sloppy Joes

Searching for a quick kid-friendly/comfort food sort of meal? Look no further! Sloppy Joes have always been a favorite of mine, but the “from the can” versions just weren’t as good as I remembered them. This is a really simple recipe that uses a lot of ingredients found already in the pantry! (Bonus!)
To zip up the classic recipe, try adding just a dash ofย cayenne pepper. I highly recommend this addition as it gives the recipe that something “special” that will leave friends, family, and guests wondering how it tastes so good! ๐Ÿ™‚

Bacon-Wrapped Pork

Delicious caramelized bacon on the outside, juicy pork inside, all topped with a sweet sauce. Perfect served over rice!

I concocted this recipe out of the blue one day.ย It evolved out of a “I wonder what would happen if…” sort of night. I’m sure that there are other recipes out there that are very similar, as we have been finding ways to incorporate bacon into our meals since the invention of bacon. However, this one is mine, and I hope you enjoy!ย  Continue reading

Veggie Cream Cheese

IMG_20150714_092815809

I had never particularly understood the appeal of cream cheese on a bagel. Lightly toasted with butter couldn’t be beat … or so I thought!

One fateful day, I went to a local coffee and breakfast-y shop, and decided to try something new and different. I got a plain bagel with their handmade veggie cream cheese.

I was hooked! And I mean HOOKED. It was SO GOOD. A delicious blend of herbs and REAL veggies… for BREAKFAST? Yes, please!

But who always has the money to go out to eat…? So I decided to try my hand at making my OWN veggie cream cheese, and this is what came of my experimentation!

Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚ Continue reading
